What It Does & How It Helps

The radiator is where the engine finally gets rid of its heat. Coolant leaves the block hot, passes through the radiator core and gives that heat to the air moving through the fins before the water pump sends it back. A diesel under load or towing makes a lot of heat, so a core that is plugged with scale, a tank that has cracked at the crimp seam, or fins that are packed with debris shows up as a climbing temperature gauge, coolant loss and eventually an overheat. A correct replacement restores full cooling capacity so the engine holds temperature under load.
