What It Does & How It Helps

The coolant reservoir, or degas bottle, holds the expansion volume of the cooling system and lets air separate out of the coolant. On most diesel trucks it is also pressurized, so it has to hold the system pressure its cap is rated for. Plastic reservoirs age with heat cycling and crack at the seams or the hose necks, which lets coolant weep out and air into the system. A new reservoir stops the leak and keeps the system bleeding and pressurizing correctly.
